The Disability Confident Campaign
There are nearly 7 million people in the UK who are of working age and are disabled or who have a health condition. There has historically been a large gap between the numbers of disabled people employed compared with non disabled people.
At the Disability Employment Conference in July 2013 the government launched the Disability Confident Campaign. The campaign aims to bring the government and employers together to remove barriers, increase understanding and ensure that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations. Employers are a crucial part to improving employment opportunities for disabled people.
The video below contains highlights from the conference where you can hear the Prime Minister and business speakers explain the importance for employers to support this campaign and become disability confident!
